Textbooks

A student of this institution is not under any obligation to purchase a textbook from a University-affiliated bookstore (Texas Education Code, § 51.9705; 19 TAC 4.214 et seq.). The same textbook may also be available from an independent retailer, including an online retailer. Information regarding required or recommended textbooks and other course materials, if any, is available on the Schedule of Classes on myUTSA. The book title, author, International Standard Book Number (ISBN), edition, and price is provided for each class section.

Students may search the Schedule of Classes for courses using low-cost or free textbooks (Texas Senate Bill 810 2017 and TEC § 51.542). Low-cost textbook courses have a total required learning materials cost of $40 or less. Free textbook courses have a total required learning materials cost of $0. Additional information about low-cost and free textbooks may be found on the UTSA Libraries website.
