PHY 3453. Lasers: Theory and Applications. (3-0) 3 Credit Hours.

Prerequisite: PHY 2103 or consent of instructor. Topics include basic principles and designs of lasers: Einstein A and B coefficients; semiclassical laser theory; the phase-coherent nature of the stimulated emission process; and laser efficiency. Various applications of lasers, such as laser-induced fluorescence, light wave communications, holography, surgery, and laser fusion. Course Fees: LRS1 $15; STSI $15.
